The Arc of the Mid Ohio Valley's summer day camp is for students in the 3rd - 12th grades who utilize the special education system. Those who have moderate or severe intellectual or related developmental disabilities will be given first priority. The program is based out of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, but much of each day will be spent on community outings, at Butcher Bend, the YMCA, visiting parks, doing volunteer service, going on field trips and participating in other activities. Celebrate Independence is held in Wheeling, WV for youth ages 12 to 17 years who are visually impaired. The camp focuses on life skills that promote independence. The Summer Institute provides direct instruction on specific skills like braille, independent living, assistive technology, orientation and mobility and self help skills. The institute addresses specific skills the children do not get during the school year. Additionally, Summer Institute provides an opportunity for students, parents and teachers from different counties to network and establish support systems. Stepping Stones activities are held in Morgantown. Mountain Milestones is for ages 5-15. Teen Adventures is for 16 and up. The camp is six weeks long.
